CECD/ICDD Intern Graduation Congratulation!

We would like to congratulate our graduating interns and wish them the best of luck!

 

Amanda Bouc
Amanda Bouc of Valparaiso, Neb. will graduate this spring with a master's degree in communication studies. After graduation, Amanda plans to stay in the Midwest and enter the workforce. Amanda was introduced to CECD/ICDD through her academic advisor, Dr. Soo-Hye Han, and while on staff, she was responsible for writing news stories, participating in events and completing special projects. "Serving as an intern increased my knowledge of the deliberative process, facilitation, and the role of grocery stores in rural America," says Bouc. "Working in this office provided me with an opportunity to explore a diverse range of topics, which not only expanded my skill set, but my knowledgebase as well."

Annie Cutler
A native of Topeka, Kan., Annie Cutler will graduate in May with bachelor's degrees in political science and public relations. Annie currently serves as the social media and research intern at CECD/ICDD, and began work here in August 2012, after hearing about the internship through a class presentation. During her time at CECD/ICDD, she managed the social media accounts, wrote the bi-weekly newsletter, and assisted with other communications tasks. She will be attending Oklahoma State University in the fall to pursue her graduate degree in International Studies. "I have truly enjoyed the time I have spent at CECD/ICDD, and the lessons it has taught me," Cutler says. "I am happy to have had this opportunity to learn about the importance and the benefits of civic engagement between the university and surrounding communities."  

Amanda Meinhardt 
After two years at CECD/ICDD, Amanda Meinhardt will graduate with a bachelor's degree in theatre, emphases in dance and psychology, and the Equine Certificate. Amanda has accepted a job at the Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center in Wichita, KS as a therapeutic riding instructor. She first got involved with CECD/ICDD after being recommended to apply by her supervisor at her former job as office assistant for the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre, and Dance. Amanda is originally from Rogersville, MO. During her time at CECD/ICDD, Amanda worked primarily as the student project coordinator for yOUR Campaign and Kids Voting Kansas. She also assisted with various events, such as facilitation workshops and the Hunger Dialogue.

 

Jenna Surprenant
Jenna Surprenant will graduate this spring with her bachelor's degree in communication studies, with a minor in leadership studies. Originally from Marshall, Minn., Jenna manages the organization websites and plans events and forums and has worked at CECD/ICDD since August 2010. When asked about what she has learned from her time here at CECD/ICDD, Jenna says, "I have learned all it takes to successfully pull off an event and the importance of deliberation." Jenna originally got involved with CECD/ICDD through Erika Imbody, ICDD's former project coordinator. This fall, Jenna will be attending the University of Alabama to pursue a Master of Arts in communication studies.

 

Continuing on at CECD/ICDD next fall will be Jared Wasinger, junior in public relations and political science. Jared will continue his duties as the media and technology intern and will be joined by 3 newly hired undergraduate interns and a graduate assistant.
